Mexico...again...

Well we're headed off to Mexico again - super excited! This time we're going with our good friends, Taylor and Elizabeth. We fly out at 7:00 am Tuesday morning (yikes). And of course I haven't started packing yet! We're flying to Phoenix (where Kris grew up) and meeting his dad and step mom and then all of us are loading the truck and driving 9 hours south to San Carlos. Kris's dad has a boat there - we're planning on fishing, laying by the pool, eating awesome Mexican food, and just hanging out. There's a tournament on Friday, Sat and Sunday, so hopefully we'll hook into something big! I want to catch a giant Marlin! Stay tuned for pictures of the trip when we return!

Here's a pic of how large my Marlin will be:

When it rains, it pours...

Houston weather is known to be unpredictable...it's also known to rain a lot in the summer, but right now it's a little more then we bargained for. After most of Texas having been in a drought this summer, it's literally been raining for about 2 days straight in the Houston area. We're currently on the dirty side of Hurricane Dolly -and she is dumping a lot of water along the Texas Coast! Here is some footage of Kris playing in the rain (really he was checking the drain to make sure our house wasn't flooding - but I thought I'd make him do something funny since he was already out there and sopping wet - I'm sure our neighbors thought he was crazy out there in the pouring rain).

Pets Rock

Pets are such a great addition to a house. We have two pets, Trinity, our calico cat, and Victory, our giant yellow lab (weighing in at about 100 lbs). They are so great! Trinity is very high maintenance and will only drink out of a running faucet, Kris has learned to accept the sound of running water throughout the house. As if that's not bad enough she's started this habit of crying really loudly at 7:00 am for the water to be turned on (yes even on the weekends)! Some mornings she'll surprise you by jumping into the shower, regardless if you're done taking it or not...she's so cute! Vic is a great dog - Kris spent a lot of timing training him to be a bird dog when he was a pup and he's so well behaved now! He gets so excited when he sees his leash and knows he's going on a walk - it's the highlight of his day! I love walking with him, not only is it good exercise, but he's so much fun. Lately he's been jumping up on the fence and catching opossums, he catches them about once every two weeks. He never kills them (or even hurts them) he just leaves them at the back door as presents. Some are really convincing at playing opossum and some are not so good at it, like this guy the other day that Kris picked up with the shelve to place outside; he jumped off mid way out of the patio into the garage - that was awesome! Regardless of our pets weird quirks we love them!

Home Renovations

As most of you already know - Kris and I have been very busy doing home renovations...we started 7 months ago with the kitchen and this weekend finally finished our last big project - putting in hard wood floors in the living room. Kris did such an awesome job laying everything out and making sure it all lined up correctly - the new floors really look nice! It did take us a bit longer then we expected, but it was worth it - we really love the new floors and can't wait to get our furniture back in and start living on them.

Palo Pinto for rent

As if repainting two houses this year wasn't enough...now we're on to renovating house #3 (and when I say "we" I mean mostly "Kris"). The rent house "Palo Pinto" is vacant after having residence for the last several years. We figured we'd take this down time to do much needed repairs. So far we have relandscaped, put in a flagstone walkway and a flagstone patio in the back and installed a sprinkler system. We're also going to repaint the house, clean the carpet, update the kitchen and reside the house. If anyone knows anyone looking for a 4 bedroom house to rent, let us know, it should be ready to rent again in about a month or so...

Above are some pics of the new landscaping.

Loreto, Mexico

We're back from the Baja - it was a lot of fun! Six of us went, Mitchell, Rebecca, Shannon, Ed, Kris and I. We spent 4 days on El Don, a 65 foot yatch and then 3 days in the town of Loreto. See our scrapblog below for pics of the trip. If anyone is interested in renting Casa #3 or El Don, contact Gary at http://www.findrentals.com/yacht/21739.html.
