Hill country for Labor Day weekend

Kris and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and head to the hill country (San Antonio to be more specific)to celebrate our one year anniversary (a little early) and to get some quality alone time in. We stayed at the Westin La Cantera, the hotel overlooked the hill side and was so beautiful! It was a very relaxing weekend consisting mostly of hanging out by the pool and eating yummy dinners. We also kept our eye on the news to track Hurricane Gustav...we were slightly worried that our weekend get away would turn from us being hotel guests to being refugees, but luckily Houston dodged the bullet again on having a major storm hit.

We ate at some truly amazing places while in San Antonio. The first night we headed down to the river walk and ate at a Mexican Fusion place called Acenar, I think it might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant (which is a huge honor cause I have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants). The second night we headed out into the country and ate at this little restaurant that had been there for 80+ years. It was called the Grey Moss Inn. The atmosphere was very quaint and romantic. I had a tasty steak and Kris had a rack of lamb, both were excellent.

We saw about 500 empty buses, along with ambulances and National Guard heading East on I-10 to help evacuate for the hurricane when it made land fall. It was kinda freaky to see that many buses and supplies going towards Houston.

Here we are on the main lawn overlooking hill country.

The pools at La Cantera were really nice. Kris decided to check out the water slide!

The view from our pool chairs was simply amazing!

Here we are enjoying a romantical dinner at The Grey Moss Inn.
